Swine Flu Precautions-Best Way To Avoid Illness From Swine Flu
Every fall sometime around October or November flu season begins. Regularly we have a few types of seasonal type A flu viruses circulating, most which are covered by the flu vaccine and some that are not.
During a common flu season there will be about 36,000 deaths and it will most negatively impact people 65 and older. This flu season we will also be dealing with swine flu or H1N1 which most harmfully impacts people from age 24-49. So, we have 2 different types of flu that principally affects different age groups, certainly this is something to watch out for especially if you have younger children in the home because they too can be harmfully affected by this H1N1 virus.
Now is the time to educate yourself on how to prevent swine flu or at least reduce the risk that you will get infected.
As a rule the counsel during flu season to avoid the flu is to get vaccinated. This season is no exception; to stay healthy you should get vaccinated with the regular seasonal flu vaccine. Keep in mind though; this vaccine does not cover the H1N1, swine flu virus.
As far as swine flu goes, although a vaccination will be ready there will be limited quantities. The primary estimation was for 120 million vaccinations to be ready at the start of flu season; the number now is looking more like 45 million. It will be given out in priority so you may not necessarily receive the vaccination for swine flu.
I have seen many people asking around if the vaccination they received during the mild 1976 outbreak will cover them for this virus and the answer to that is no. The H1N1 or swine flu that is circulating now is not the same as the virus that circulated during 1976 so the vaccination will have been developed differently. If the new vaccine for swine flu is offered to you or someone in your family, you will need to decide for yourself whether or not this is an option you will utilize bearing in mind the risks with any novel drug.
Another aspect of avoiding swine flu that people are talking about is, antivirals. As with the vaccinations there will likely be more demand than supply so antivirals such as Tamiflu and Relenza will be given in order of priority and to those that are the sickest or most at risk. An important aspect of avoidance will need to be the things you do on your own.
There are other ways to prevent swine flu or at least reduce the risk of transmission-
Wash your hands thoroughly
Use alcohol based hand sanitizer
Cover you nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and dispose of the tissue immediately
Try not to touch your hands to your face as this is the easiest way for germs to cause a problem
There is much more you can do to learn about what dangers you face should a possible epidemic arise. This flu season it is estimated that more people will die from flu, it will be worth it to you and you family to be prepared. Arm yourself with knowledge on how to prevent swine flu and what to do in the case of an epidemic. There is not enough room to write about all the things vital to being prepared for swine flu. http://www.how-to-prevent-swine-flu.info

Energy Consumption Is Getting Out-of-Hand
Data Centers are information factories that run the digital world. They are utilized by just about every segment of the economy including the financial sector, the industrial sector, education, technology and even the web hosting providers. Outside of the US government, companies like Google, Yahoo! and MSN control and maintain some of the most sophisticated state-of-art data centers in the world. Unfortunately, data centers are energy intensive facilities that require tens of MegaWatts of energy to operate. These data centers house hundreds of server racks and networking equipment that are designed to consume more than 25KW of power per hour. Surging demand for data storage is forcing data centers to upgrade to faster and more densely packed server systems. This high density computing environment becomes a great challenge for the cooling system. A typical facility can support approximately 1MW, but instead they are forced to handle power requirement that can be > 20 MW. Nationally 1.5% of US Electricity consumption was attributed to data center use in 2006. That power usage number is expected to double by 2011. Because of the significant data center building boom in the past 5 years, power and cooling constraints in existing facilities are strained and cannot keep up. As a result, the rising cost of ownership is getting out of control. Cost of electricity for computing and supporting infrastructure now surpasses capital cost of the IT equipment.
The US Department of Energy has established power reduction goals in conjunction with Green Grid partnership. By 2011, the goal is to achieve a 25% energy savings overall in U.S. data center. This equates to approximately 10.7 billion kWh or equivalent to electricity consumed by 1 million typical U.S. households. By reducing power usage, we are able to contain carbon emissions and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 6.5 million metrics tons of CO2 per year. This potential energy savings between 20-40% are realizable and with more aggressive strategies, we can achieve better than 50% savings in energy usage. The catch is that companies must be willing to fork out the money today to perform the retrofits. Because paybacks are short (i.e. between 1 to 3 years) companies can regain all of their investments while maintaining the potential to extend life and capacity of existing data center infrastructure. But this also could allow for more IT equip – raising total energy use. Thus, innovative power reduction techniques must be utilized in order to keep energy consumption in-check. We all need to chip in and save a little energy everyday.

How Taking Some TIme Off Helps Your Body And Mind
We live in a very fast passed world these days, with a great deal of emphasis put on urgency and efficiency. Whilst productivity may increase in the short term by adopting this ideology, it is not a sustainable healthy way to live and in fact many doctors have warned of the dangerous implications of this type of stressful lifestyle. Indeed, cases of work related stress have increased by 5-10% each year for the past 5. One of the top pieces of advice given by doctors to combat stress is to take some time out where you can relax and unwind. Here are some details as to why this is so effective.
Balancing Hormone Levels. In a ‘fight or flight’ based response, a large number of hormones such as adrenaline are released by glands into the body and act to make the body and mind better prepared for action. This is fine in the short term, but these hormones can have harmful effects if they are present in the body for long periods of time and can cause problems with digestion, headaches and insomnia to name a few. Moving out of stressful situations will allow the body to reassess which hormones are required and will give it a break from those that can cause health problems.
Emotional Filtering. One of the major causes of breakdowns or other stress-related emotional problems is the fact that people do not have time to reassess the direction they are heading in or filter out what is and isn’t importan. Going on luxury cruises or visiting a health spa will give you time away to clear your head, sort out your priorities and help you to get a better picture of the direction you are heading. If you don’t live near the sea then river cruises such as Oceania cruises will do just fine.
